Living in North Vancouver

NORTHVANCOUVER

NORTHVANCOUVER2

Caught between the Burrard Inlet and the North Shore Mountains, North Vancouver is a vibrant area that blends spectacular natural beauty with an array of cosmopolitan amenities. It’s no surprise why real estate here is fast becoming some of Greater Vancouver’s most highly valued.

A large part of the region known as the North Shore – so called because it’s located on the north shore of the Burrard Inlet – the North Vancouver area is in fact made up of two different municipalities, the City of North Vancouver and the District of North Vancouver. The former is virtually surrounded by the latter and together they have a total population of over 130,000 residents and encompass a total area of approximately 170 km².

The city is denser and more urbanized than the district, which happens to be more than ten times its size, but both have many features in common and share a number of services as well. There are myriad parks and trails here and popular commercial areas and destinations include Lonsdale Quay, Edgemont Village, Burrard Dry Dock Pier, and the Shipyards.

Those in the market for high-rise condos and other multifamily housing would do well to start their search in the city, particularly in the neighbourhoods of Central Lonsdale and Lower Lonsdale. Other real estate options here include sprawling waterfront estates, luxury homes, historic residences, and more.
