Living in West Vancouver

With the North Shore Mountains as a backdrop, West Vancouver looks out on the deep blue waters of the Burrard Inlet and Howe Sound and boasts some of the best views in all of British Columbia.

Locally referred to as “West Van,” this district municipality shares a border with the district of North Vancouver and is connected to downtown Vancouver via the Lions Gate Bridge. It is well-known for being one of the country’s most affluent communities and features many of the most luxurious and desirable residences in the region, with over 70% of the homes here valued at over $1 million.

One of the communities that make up the North Shore, West Van has long been synonymous with luxury and gracious living. A tranquil, primarily residential town, it has compact commercial areas and a wide selection of distinct village-like neighbourhoods, quite a few of which were established in the 1930s and ‘40s. Interspersed throughout are lush parks, golf courses, schools, marinas, shopping and dining options, and more.

The vast majority of properties here are single-family homes though there are also quite a few multifamily housing options. Whether you’re interested in a condo or a waterfront estate, you will have a wealth of options available.
